My mother has always said I started enjoying the written word since she was pregnant with me. She has always been a voracious reader and spent a lot of time reading aloud and rubbing her tummy so it was no surprise when I started devouring every book I could put my hands on when I was finally able to read on my own.
Reading was what would eventually cause my teachers in school to put me a class ahead of other children my age because as she told my mother:
She’s reading everything and we just can’t keep up.
Fast forward to now and I still am reading everything I can. Simply put, I love books. I have a kindle now (insert shocked gasps from old-fashioned bibliophiles here) but I still have a well-used library membership and occasionally I find myself patronizing bookstores, both physical and online.
My favorite genres are ALL! I’m one of the few women in the world who do not really fancy romance novels but will occasionally read one if I think it sounds fascinating enough. I also adore Caribbean literature which should be unsurprising as I am lucky enough to have been born and raised in the Caribbean twin island paradise known as Trinidad & Tobago. My absolute favorite, however, is horror. The creepier and scarier the book, the more determined I am to read it.
Reading and books are one of the greatest pleasures in this world and I hope these reviews encourage you to join me as I travel the world one book at a time. Now…
Shhhhh! I’m reading!
